About Little Lungs of Long Island

A pediatric pulmonology and cough clinic built to serve the children and families of Long Island — by a physician who grew up here.

WHY LITTLE LUNGS

Dr. Vicki Masson opened Little Lungs of Long Island for one reason: families in this community deserve specialized pediatric lung care that doesn’t feel like an assembly line. After thirteen years in pediatric medicine — including six as a pediatric pulmonologist at Stony Brook University — she watched too many local families wait for months and even drive hours away just to evaluate a child’s cough.

She built something different. Little Lungs is a single-practitioner clinic, and it stays that way on purpose. Your child sees Dr. Masson at every visit. Phone calls and messages route to Dr. Masson. Test results are reviewed by Dr. Masson. It’s a practice built on consistency and continuity.

Our Mission

To provide family-centered, individualized, and tailored pediatric pulmonology care to the children and families of Long Island — with the access, communication, and continuity that families deserve.

Experience:

Dr. Vicki Masson is a board-certified pediatric pulmonologist and a Long Island native. Before opening Little Lungs of Long Island, she spent six and a half years at Stony Brook University, where she cared for children across the full spectrum of pediatric lung conditions — infant wheezing, chronic cough, allergies and post-nasal drip, and the most complex cases of asthma. With 13 years of experience in pediatric medicine, Dr. Masson has spent her career helping children breathe easier and helping families understand exactly what is going on with their child’s lungs.

Little Lungs is a deliberate departure from that high-volume hospital environment. Dr. Masson opened the practice as a single-practitioner clinic so that families would get a more personal, more accessible kind of care — a boutique experience, rather than the feeling of getting lost
in a large university system. When patients call, they reach her directly. When test results come back, she is the one who reviews and explains them. The clinical depth of a major academic program, delivered with the access and continuity of a small practice.

She’s chosen to practice in Long Island because she knows this community — its schools,
its winters, its allergens, its hospitals — and because she believes the children here deserve specialized lung care close to home, delivered by a physician who knows them like a neighbor.

Community Roots

Long Island shaped Dr. Masson long before her training did. She grew up here, and she returned here. She knows what it’s like to navigate snow days when
a child’s asthma is acting up, what the local schools require for asthma action plans, and how seasonal allergens shift across the North Shore. That local knowledge — combined with training at top pediatric programs in Ohio and California — is woven into every plan she writes.

What to Expect at Little Lungs

Most families coming to a pediatric pulmonologist are arriving with months of worry behind them — the cough that won’t quit, the inhaler that doesn’t seem to be working, the wheezing at soccer practice. Visits at Little Lungs are designed to take that worry seriously and give families a clear plan to follow.
